Livewired: The Inside Story of the Ever-Changing Brain
When I first watched Spider-Man 2, the villain was Doc Ock, who had 4 mechanical arms which he could use as normal limbs (though it didn’t work perfectly). Recently I had the same question while reading some neuroscience papers, if we humans connect additional arms to our brain, will we be able to use them as well as our 2 natural arms? would the brain have the capacity to control 3 arms now? The answer does lie in the book, although no one can be sure until we really do that. This book is perfect for such questions. In fact, I was surprised that the book itself has a chapter on Doc Ock. So if you are curious about brain resilience and adaptability, this is a really amazing book and is accessble to both non academic and academic audience.
